In the shadow of Ben Cruachan, an imposing peak that rises majestically above Loch Etive in the West Highlands of Scotland, lies the village of Taynuilt, home to a dance school which is a centre of excellence for ballet training. It is a small school centred on a large country house set in a vast tract of rugged Scottish moorland and forest.
Ballet West was established as a provider of full-time, post-16 dance training in 1995 and since then has developed an international reputation for offering the very best in classical ballet training.
The school has close links with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), teaching the Vocational Graded Examination syllabi of the academy.
Ballet West produces consistently high marks in RAD examinations and several students at the school have been awarded the Solo Seal of the academy. The school can boast not only finalists in the Genée International Ballet Competition, but also medalists.
