RAD Senior Awards Day 2015
Huge congratulations to Ballet West students Emma Thomas, Oscar Ward and Emily Corbitt who each won awards at the RAD Senior Awards Day 2015.
Emma - runner up advanced level, Oscar - winner of the advanced level and Emily won the Terry Darke Memorial Award for musicality.
Prix de Lausanne!
Natasha Watson is the only UK candidate chosen to participate in this year's prestigious Prix de Lausanne!
In 2013, Natasha was a bronze medalist at the Genée International Ballet Competition. Following her success at this competition, Natasha Watson danced with Scottish Ballet on their 2014 tour of Hansel and Gretel. Natasha has returned to continue her studies at Ballet West and is due to graduate with a BA (Hons) in 2015.
Isabella Swietlicki won the prestigious Molly Lake Award for the "Best British Young Dancer of the Year" and is heading to New Zealand for the Genée International Ballet Competition. In 2014, she won a bronze medal at the Genee International Ballet Competition.
Gillian Barton, Principal of Ballet West congratulated Isabella: "This is a remarkable achievement for Isabella. She is an exceptionally talented and dedicated student and richly deserves her success."
Isabella trained as a dancer at Ballet West since she was 7-years-old. Isabella was chosen as a "poster girl" by the Royal Academy of Dance to advertise the Genée Challenge. She has danced solo roles in the Ballet West tours of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Romeo & Julient tours in Scotland and China in previous years.

Congratulations to Natasha Watson, 16 year old full time student at Ballet West who won the overall prize at the Royal Academy of Dance Senior Awards Day.
This year the competition was judged by the Artistic Director of Scottish Ballet, Christopher Hampson.

Sarah Mortimer - one of the finalists for the Genee International Ballet Competition 2011 held in South Africa and poster girl for the 2012 competition to be held in Wellington, New Zealand.
Sarah Mortimer reached the finals at the Genée International Ballet Competition in South Africa.
Isabella Swietlicki has won first prize for the RAD Senior Awards, Génee Challenge.
The RAD Senior Awards took place in Glasgow on Sunday 19th of September 2010.
At the end of July 2010, Natasha Watson, who came to Ballet West through our Aspiring Professionals, won the Level 2 Genée Dance Challenge, organised by the Royal Academy of Dance. The competitors were judged on a solo which had been choreographed by their teacher. Natasha's solo, "River Flows in You" by Yiruma, was choreographed by Ballet West principal dancer Sara-Maria Smith, herself a medallist in the Genée International Ballet Competition. As a winner she was invited to perform her solo at Supper with the Stars, an exclusive fundraising dinner and curtain-raiser for the Genée International Ballet Competition, taking place in November.
In 2011, Natasha won a Festival 4 Stars Special Achievement Award for her achievements in dance and Best New Scottish Actress at the 2011 Scottish Variety Awards. She gained Distinction with a mark of 92% in her RAD Advanced 1 examination. She is also the youngest ever actress to be nominated for a Scottish BAFTA.
Victoria Gunning, Lisa Bysheim, Duncan Saul and Sarah Mortimer achieved distinction in their RAD Advanced 2 exams and will compete in the 2010 Genee International Ballet Competition in London.

Philippa Marsh & Jenny Morrison both attained Distinction in their RAD Advanced 2. They were eligible to compete in the Genée International Ballet Competition in Singapore in the summer of 2009.
Michaela Poulton - Genée International Ballet Competition 2008
Michaela is originally from Devon and during her early training she was the South West Ballet Champion for 4 years. While attending Ballet West, she was a competitor in the RAD Phyllis Bedell's Bursary 2007 and won the 2008 Adeline Calder Scholarship. She was recently awarded Distinction in the RAD Advanced 2 examination, which entitled her to compete in the Other News in Toronto in August 2008. She was the only UK student eligible to attend this highly prestigious competition, which attracts participants from all over the world.
